Students are motivated to learn when reality conflicts with their own perceptions of it. This concept can be applied in all that you do.
Ever thought of having a fresh new book in your classroom as a novel study/literature circle? How about as a read aloud? Perhaps your school librarian could use some new books. My books have been well received in the public schools as a fresh alternative, even being used as a study novel. Each book contains morally positive thematic material. Free Rollin' is on the York Region District School Board's list of approved novels.

If you are in the greater Toronto area, perhaps you would like to arrange to have me come and visit your school. I come fully prepared to speak on the writing process, covering such topics as:
Who is a Writer?
Where do good ideas come from?
How do we decide on the form of writing?
How does the publishing process work?
If you are interested in having me as a guest author, please direct your inquiry to stephen.pavey@yrdsb.edu.on.ca . I look forward to hearing from you!
